Pole Mountain Project
Permitting and Drilling
DESCRIPTION:
The Pole Mountain 3D is located near the town of Walden in Jackson County of North Central, Colorado. This 70 square mile program was acquired in two phases, allowing Sage Grouse mating and nesting during the course of exploration. Through cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service the winter phase of the program was actually undertaken in an existing Big Game Preserve. At 9,200 feet, Pole Mountain rests against the spectacular beauty of the Routt National Forest and the North Platte River finds its beginnings within the perimeter of the survey. As many as 250 elk were seen from time to time during the drilling phase of the program. Pronghorn and Mule Deer were present at all times. By allowing work over snow and frozen ground, U.S. Fish and Wildlife commented that there was nearly zero surface disturbance. Due to the many streams, marshes and water ways, future work in the area will be given strong preference for operations to be conducted during the winter.
